As such, their souls couldn’t rest either.Īs you can see, twins run heavily in the family. They did not die with the rest of the family, but were already buried in the mansion’s cemetery when the fire happened. Both he and one of Nana’s brothers, Jarvis, appear as ghostly blobs instead of human ghosts, because they died before the fire happened. I imagine that is his link to his son- this interest in ghosts.īogmire is Nana’s husband, real name Delmire Gadd. His father is Vincent Van Gore, who is the last portrait ghost Luigi defeats and the one who made all the extra ghosts Luigi has to deal with. She’s also not blood related to the Gadd family. Gadd’s family: Madam Clairvoya is his mother, which is why she is the only ghost who isn’t hostile towards Luigi. He buries all of them at the site of the fire, and seals their ghosts into paintings in order for them to rest, only to be undone later on.Į. My idea is that he was 20 when the fire happened, so he moved back and began studying ghosts to put them to rest. Gadd mentions he’s been living in his lab since he was 20 years old. Gadd is now too old and not strong enough to face his family’s ghosts a second time, struggling when Luigi comes along at the perfect time, and he ropes him into helping.Į. Not only does he release the souls of his family from the paintings, interrupting their rest, but he also creates a horrible haunted version of his burned-down family home.Į. He tried to put his family to rest by sealing them in paintings, but then King Boo goes and releases them all in revenge due to E. Gadd, and it’s his family who haunts the mansion they all died in in a fire that also burned the mansion down, aside from him. Story: I think the mansion actually “belongs” to E. I have a slightly large theory about the first Luigi’s mansion game. The wikis really need to be updated with the alternate translation info, because it adds a lot more context I feel. Anyway, I just wanted to bring my cute lil’ blob some justice. Makes a lot more sense as to why he’s so agitated. However, he doesn't know how to relieve it because he has accumulated too much resentment. In the Japanese version, the description about him is COMPLETELY different: A ghost born from the grudges that have accumulated in the mansion. This… is a horrible mistranslation and doesn’t make much sense. So in the English version, the game says that he’s: A product of the mansion's fear and despair, he's not sure who to fear or what to despair these days. Glad he’s the character who got a LEGO figure. (a lot of the descriptions for characters are mistranslated mind you) That being said, I need to vent about a dumb mistranslation that makes much more sense in original Japanese text. It is in my top 5 favorite GameCube games and nothing will change that. So over the years I’ve been on this site, one thing that has never changed is my love for Luigi’s Mansion.
